Cuts 4 Christ Website Redesign Case Study
Growing the Website Alongside the Organization
Cuts 4 Christ is a nonprofit organization that provides free haircuts, hygiene essentials, and compassionate outreach to people in need. I originally built their website using Bootstrap, creating their first professional online home and a place to share their mission, outreach efforts, and ways for the community to get involved.

As Cuts 4 Christ grew, their website needed to grow with them. Together, we decided to move from the original Bootstrap site to WordPress so the organization could more easily keep its content current while supporting the additional functionality they needed for events, volunteering, donations, outreach information, and continued growth.
Rather than changing platforms simply for the sake of redesigning the site, I recommended a solution that better matched where the organization was headed. The result is a website that’s easier to manage, easier to expand, and better equipped to support their work long term.
Project Overview
I have worked with Cuts 4 Christ through two generations of their website. I first built a custom Bootstrap site that gave the organization a professional online presence and helped establish its mission on the web. As their outreach expanded and their needs became more complex, I rebuilt the site in WordPress to give them greater flexibility, easier content management, and room for future growth.
- Client: Cuts 4 Christ
- Industry: Nonprofit / Community Outreach
- Services Provided: Original Bootstrap website development, WordPress redesign and migration, responsive design, content organization, event integration, volunteer and donation pathways, hosting, website management, and ongoing support
- Built By: New Path Webworks
The Challenge
The original Bootstrap website was built to meet Cuts 4 Christ’s needs at the time and served the organization well. As the ministry grew, however, maintaining an increasingly active website through a custom-coded structure was no longer the most practical solution. They needed to publish and update information more easily while adding functionality to support a growing number of outreach events, volunteers, donors, and community programs.
The challenge wasn’t simply to make the website look newer. It was to preserve what worked while moving Cuts 4 Christ to a platform that could better support the organization long term—without requiring someone to edit code every time information needed to change.
Original Website (Before Redesign)
The original Cuts 4 Christ website was a custom Bootstrap site I built to establish the organization’s online presence. It provided a responsive, professional foundation for sharing their mission, outreach work, and ways for people to get involved. At that stage of the organization’s growth, the site did what it was designed to do and gave Cuts 4 Christ a strong starting point online.
- Custom-built using Bootstrap
- Responsive design for desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Introduced visitors to the Cuts 4 Christ mission and outreach
- Provided information for volunteers and supporters
- Created the organization’s original professional web presence
As the organization became more active, the limitations weren’t about the quality of the original site—they were about how its needs had changed. Cuts 4 Christ needed a website that could be updated more frequently, expanded more easily, and support new features without relying on custom code for routine content changes.

The Solution
The solution was to rebuild the site in WordPress so Cuts 4 Christ could manage changing content more easily while gaining the flexibility needed for future growth. I kept the organization’s mission and existing strengths at the center of the redesign, then reorganized the site around the actions visitors needed to take most often.
What I Changed:
- Migrated the site from Bootstrap to WordPress for easier ongoing management
- Created a structure that could support future features and outreach growth
- Simplified the overall page structure and navigation
- Made the outreach calendar easier to locate and use
- Improved the layout for a more intuitive browsing experience
- Created clearer pathways for donations, volunteering, and involvement
- Strengthened mobile usability for supporters visiting on phones and tablets
- Organized content in a way that better reflects the ministry’s active outreach work
The goal was not just to make the website look newer. It was to give Cuts 4 Christ a site that was easier to maintain, easier for visitors to use, and better prepared to grow alongside the organization.
New Website (After Redesign)
The new WordPress website gives Cuts 4 Christ a more flexible online home that better reflects how active the organization has become. Visitors can quickly find upcoming outreach events, learn about the mission, explore volunteer opportunities, discover ways to donate or provide needed supplies, and stay connected with the organization’s work.
Behind the scenes, moving to WordPress also makes ongoing changes and expansion much easier. New events, outreach information, stories, and other content can be added without having to manually modify the underlying site code each time.

About the Project
This project shows how a website can evolve alongside the organization it serves. I built both generations of the Cuts 4 Christ website, first creating a custom Bootstrap site and later helping the organization transition to WordPress when its needs changed. The technology changed, but the goal remained the same: give Cuts 4 Christ a reliable online presence that supports its mission and the people it serves.
